Sandbox Server Status offline
Protected: Phase 1: Interim Status Update

Lately, we’ve had a flurry of activity inside the studio as we rolled out a new pack of game balance changes to the Sandbox server. Though we are just as excited as you to jump in and test them, we couldn’t end the week without a quick status update on the 1st phase.

As always, we can’t thank you enough for your passion and dedication in testing!

We’ve gathered a substaintial amount of data, which is now being processed. The success of what we do is directly tied to your happiness. That’s why, when analyzing it, we focus on two things: feedback you shared and battle stats. Your commentaries and answers to various polls on the Sandbox forum reflect what kind of a gaming experience each of you had: what you like and what you don’t. The stats show how the game performed during the test at scale: Has player behavior changed, and how? Do heavies set the battle line now instead of camping? Do they engage in close-range combat more? Have changes to accuracy and penetration loss caused the damage dealt average to decrease? Do well-armored vehicles block more damage now?

In other words, it’s “how it feels” and “how it is”. The first point signals whether the concept is worthwhile; the second point helps outline which tweaks Sandbox should undergo before making its way to the live servers. With these results, we are looking for a middle ground between stats that show positive effect and your feedback.

It’ll take us a few weeks to go through all the data and decide on the next steps. We look forward to sharing more details. In the meantime, we encourage you to jump aboard the 2nd phase and tell us what you think about it.
